While they were on this unit, we discussed in class about how science and art overlap in a multitude of ways. We discussed how realistic art is often used in science for documentation, and we looked at examples through Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions. Students then chose an animal from their biome that they are learning how to realistically draw using grids and graphite pencils. Students are then going to pair their drawings with some writing about their chosen biome/animal, and we are going to make a book through studenttreasure (book-making website).
