Once you have shown your students how to do it and are consistent with it, they start to mediate and fix problems on their own and step in to diffuse situations. Just like the teacher in the video, when I had circle time I used a talking piece that went around the circle, discussions were about different topics retrieved from a fishbowl, and I would reflect on what kids had to say. My students and I loved circle time because it gave each student the opportunity to be heard and use their voice, it helped build relationships, and it opened everyone's eyes to what others were going through. I learned so much about my students and they learned many things about me.  It was amazing!  The students would ask and request for circle time weekly.  This year, I look forward to implementing what the teacher did in the video. She had her students close their eyes or look gently to the ground to get them focused and she used the scale of 1 to 5 when students described themselves or how they are ready to learn.
