The Great Barrier Reef and the Mir Castle complex are a part of cultural heritage because they hold a significant value to the local's culture. They are recognized as official heritage by the World Heritage List due to the fact that they need to be preserved and maintained in order to keep their cultural significance. This ensures that they could be passed down from one generation to the next. The Great Barrier Reef would be recognized more as Natural Heritage and the Mir Castle complex would be considered Built / Architectural Heritage. In both cases, they are also known for being tangible heritage which is something physical that could be recognized and celebrated by those that honor their culture.

Scribed by Peter Gomes

In the book of Genesis, Chapter 1 covers the creation of the Earth, Chapter 2 covers the creation of man and woman, and Chapter 3 covers the Garden of Eden and the original sin. In terms of discussion, in modern times Chapter 3 seems to not follow today's standards of freedom. The intent of God was to have Adam and Eve remain in the Garden of Eden without much choice, but once given sight, they were punished so harshly. It contradicts a lot of ideas on freedom in the US.

Scribed by Peter Gomes

The hero of this story is Gilgamesh. He is a devine human; this sets him apart from most ordinary men, and makes him the outlying hero of this story. His adventure begins when he journeys to the forest; this is how he crosses over the threshold. The "friend" of this epic is Enkidu. the first challenge or "right of passage" they come across is a giant Humbaba. When Gilgamesh travels onto the mountain could be viewed as both trials, and the belly of the whale. The main "crisis of this epic is when Gilgamesh's friend and supporting character Enkidu dies, after throwing the bulls thigh into the face of the goddess. His journey takes him to the end of the world to find eternal life; after finally finding it he loses it, and returns to be a great King again.

The movie Shang-Chi uses a lot of parallels with ancient Chinese literature to create the fictional village of Ta Lo. While some details have been altered artistically, a lot of the geography and ancient animals mentioned in The Classic of Mountain and Seas are near identical. One of the animals with a visual diagram, the Muddle Thick, is recreated very accurately in the movie. The reading also mentions flowers, trees, and even the mountains. The nine-tailed fox, the Long (Chinese dragon) and the Shi (Chinese lion creature) are animals that were shown in the Reaching Ta Lo scene.

The mountains are taller than ordinary mountains, and from them grows agriculture that has never been heard of or seen. There are trees that grow vegetation that can provide special powers for those who eat or where them on their belt. In the readings there is a mountain named Mt. Bamboo, which could be assumed was an influence of all the bamboo in the mythical world in the movie Shang Che. the movie also gathers inspiration from the creature known as the Muddle Thick and the 9 tailed fox.

The faceless creature with the wings is also represented within the text itself. It is said to be the deity Muddle Thick. In the film there are many of them though. The mythical world within the the movie is covered in green and looks as if it is perfect and pristine for vegetation.

For the five visuals I would use in order to tell the story of Genji would be of Genji's palace. I would most likely draw this in anime style as most ancient texts or shows like one punch or Naruto also dive deep into ancient cultures. I would also describe Genji in a Darth Vader like coldness with no remorse but also have him look like a prince charming type as he was in the story itself. Another visual that must be looked upon would be the Emperor as well because if his prolific ties into the story itself. Hikaru the Shining one is who I also felt must be introduced into the visual concept as he is described to have a aurora to him that reflects how he is even though his is the story of Genji himself it would be a neat touch to sort of have a evil twin aesthetically pleasing as he was tossed out of the royal status he was born into and made a commoner. One more visual I would add would be that of his half brother Emperor Suzaku who was not the rightful air to the throne.

The task here is to make up a foundation for 5 illustrations depicting scenes from the Tale Of Genji. Components of each illustration is the (description of the scene, the style of art, the primary colors, what the scene represents, and a metaphor for what the image represents.)
That being said, here is our five illustrations:
1.) When Genji wakes up with his mistress Rokujo on a lovely misty spring morning. Genji departs still exhausted with his noble prince duties, he exits through the flower garden covered in mist and Rokujo admires him on his way.
A style that could really grab this scene is the Woodblock style of art, as it is very traditional to Japanese culture.
Some good colors to bring are those that show freshness, such as greens, blues, whites, and silvers.
This scene could represent their love and admiration for one another
the metaphor we can make for this is how the misty garden in springtime is like a fresh new start.
2.) Scene- "There was a wattled fence over which some ivy-like creeper spread its cool green leaves, and among the leaves were white flowers with petals half unfolded like the lips of people smiling at their own thoughts. ‘They are called Yūgao, “Evening Faces."
Style- I feel like a silk canvas would be a great style for these
colors- Ivy Green, White, Brown, detailed shading
Represents- The nun smiling about her thoughts of raising the prince
Metaphor- the nun is a white flower
3.) Scene- Genji visits his old nurse who is Ill, I imagine them face to face when she smiles at him. It's not mentioned but I imagine they embrace each other with some type of hug or handshake as they are pretty close
The style- for this could be ink on paper as these sorts of things happen in the shadows of the prince's life and ink is of course very black and white but leaves a good stamp
Colors- Black and white for the nun and darkroom they are in
representation- Hospitality and kindness/caring attitude of the prince
Metaphor- The smile and sight of the Prince bring back a lot of good memories for the nun.
