What is the purpose of the CDU Library Website?

The purpose of the library website is to convey information about the library to clients and the public. The website acts as a conduit for direct access to resources, such as databases, and tools, such as Library Search. The website contains information about library services such as borrowing and membership.


What is the purpose of the LibGuides?

LibGuides are used for wayfinding, subject, topic, help, or access guides.

Examples of use:

  • As a pathfinder- created to assist research in a particular topic or subject area, they may include references to a variety of different sources and formats including books, databases, websites and more. For example, the Education Guide.
  • As a help guide- to assist students in using or accessing resources such as eBooks and Referencing guides.
  • Bibliographic instructions guides- used to help users learn how to find material, for example, the Health Research Guide.
  • LibGuides may also be used for pages that do not contain static information and may need to be updated regularly, or may need to be updated by staff without web training.
  • LibGuides can also be created for temporary pages such as to highlight a collection, or welcome new students to a specific semester.
