I desire to see positive changes in the world by helping students receive knowledge, which empowers them to make good decisions.  Education is the vehicle that provides foundational principles that students require to experience positive and negative activities.  I become the liaison between the student and creating the basic knowledge needed for higher-level thinking.

My community of learners contains students from zero-months-old to the age of five who learn through proper examples and guidelines, kinetic play, and repetition.  Prior to engaging in teaching, I have a desire to understand the cultural background, home experiences, parent perspective, and my students learning style.  Then present foundational facts to Head Start students, which include the recognition of numbers, letters, colors, and shapes.  

My belief is children learn through repeated opportunities to explore their world and mentally file the outcomes of explorations in a usable format for future events.  The dynamics involved in teaching students starts with the whole group concept and narrows to individual needs.  Classroom management establishes the ground rules and activates a positive learning environment by explaining and demonstrating expected responses to a stimulus.  Suppling information in at least two different formats each time encourages student engagement.  

I desire the use of student-centered curriculum, which allows the student to control the pace of learning and the development of useful schema concepts.  Throughout the school year, there is a need for both formative and summative assessments, which guides repeated or remedial instruction as students show readiness to learn or display mastery of a task.  Meeting educational needs is a delicate balance between strategically grouping students based on learning style and knowing when to address the needs in a large or small group format.

My learning goal for my students includes meeting or exceeding Texas state educational requirements for grade-level advancement.  Achieving this goal requires current and accurate knowledge of global issues through reading articles, acquiring technical advancement, attending seminars, and colleague collaboration.  I desire to maintain an open mind and candid multilateral communication to aid in a team concept for student development.  When taking a proactive approach to learning, teaching, and educational advancements knowledge becomes a critical factor for all involved.
