I think the next leader will help us right-size the organization. It isn't about reaching a certain number of staff but making sure we have the capacities to be an effective organization that leans into the values/training PEAK empowers and understanding what budget/fundraising is needed and reasonable to get us there.

I always loved how PEAK empowers the next generation of grants managers and foundation leaders in their careers. I still believe our community is what sets us apart from other PSOs. I would like to see us elevate members as SMEs more strategically.

In terms of impact, we are successful when our work strengthens the capacity and confidence of grantmaking professionals and organizations to lead with equity, integrity, and effectiveness. We will see tangible progress in how our programs, partnerships, and learning spaces influence more thoughtful and just funding practices across the field.

In terms of how we work together, success will mean keeping a culture of trust, openness, and shared responsibility, where staff, leadership, and the board can talk honestly, listen to understand, and face challenges with respect and curiosity. It means we don’t shy away from tough conversations, and everyone feels comfortable speaking up when something doesn’t sit right.

Clarify how financial and strategic choices are made, who is involved, and what informs those decisions. Transparency will help prevent blind spots and rebuild confidence across the organization.

Prioritize organizational health: Rebuild morale, strengthen financial footing, and support the people who remain.

I think the board looks different than when the past strategic plan was passed. We need to undergo that process again to ground both board and staff in PEAK's North start

Stabilizing

I think PEAK has been somewhat destabilized for a while, and the MacKenzie Scott funds provided a cushion that allowed us to do a lot and take on more than we might have otherwise. Now that the cushion is gone, we need to ask ourselves: What does stabilization look like for PEAK—both in the short term and the long term? How do we strengthen the organization’s foundation to ensure sustainability beyond this period of rapid growth and transition?
