The requirements for being a regular interpreter are easy. The only main thing that you have to do is to get a bachelor's degree in interpreting. Some states don't even require degrees for interpreting but it's good to get one just in case. There are also different degrees for different expertise like if you want to interpret in plays or acts (acting degree) or an interpreter for medical health/emergencies. All that's really needed though is a bachelor's degree for that specific field.

If you live in an area where there’s a lot of deaf and the demand is high then you would get a lot of business, but if there’s low demand, not so much. As far as a degree it’s not always necessary but usually you are required to have some kind of bachelors degree, the type of degree doesn’t always matter. Also they don't need a training program but it is highly recommended which I thought was strange because I would want someone who was very well trained. Also an interpreter degree is always great to have and most likely raises the chance of being hired somewhere for interpretation. The salary of an interpreter really depends on the area you live in as well which I wasn't really surprised to learn. The type of work that you do is also pretty important to knowing the salary. Experience is also important to how much you will be getting paid for interpretation. The overall salary of an interpreter is really quite low and you don't make that much money so don't plan to get rich interpreting.
