It wasn't until last year that I realized I just hadn't taken the time needed to get to know them and I was judging them based on one or maybe a few bad encounters. I do still think that not everyone can like everyone but everyone has something likable to them. 
My perspective on my faith has not changed much this semester, I view my spirituality as more of trying to be a good person and there for all. Although I have not found where I stand with God yet and I am way more able to see the good in the people around me and I am way more willing to stand up for what I believe is right. From the beginning of the year when we talked about Tattoos on the Heart by Father Greg Boyle I realized that there is a lot going on that I am not aware of and don't fully understand the importance of. I knew gangs existed but I did not really know what that meant or what they were going through. Father Greg Boyle went out of his way to dedicate his life to helping the kids and teens involved in gangs. There were times when he risked his life to save someone else's. After reading Tattoos on the Heart I realize that while everyone is capable of good some people do enough good for twenty people and it still isn't enough. Many people looked at the kids and teens in gangs and assumed the worst, they feared them and thought they were all horrible people with horrible intentions. Father Greg Boyle was able to see that they weren't because he knows that everyone is beautiful in their own way and even if these people he had taken in weren't taught how to be kind they had it in them to learn. 
I feel that I have grown over this semester in the sense that I am more open to other ideas and opinions. I am not quick to judge and take time to get to know people and find what makes them beautiful. At the beginning of the year I thought I knew myself and who I wanted to be pretty well, now I'm not so sure. In some ways I feel like I know myself better now and in other ways I feel like I still need to find myself. I know that that is okay, especially since I'm so young, but sometimes I think it would be easier if I had it all figured out. One thing that I have learned about myself and grown in is the fact that now I am able to realize that everyone is beautiful in their own way even if they think differently than me or I don't agree with the way they do certain things. 
I feel that if everyone took a step back and looked deeper into people and the way they might be acting people could see that there is usually more to the story or a good intention that might not be executed in the best way. If everyone was willing to take the time to get to know people everyone would like a whole lot more people.
