I think it is crazy that the whistle blowers went to go get the girl who did nothing but help instead of getting the man who clearly needs help. i also found that this book has a lot of more interesting things like instead of them saying art said they say art screamed or whispered. There are also lots of short and long sentences. I also think that it is strange that they dont care if it is a kid or an adult that is on trial for being flawed and in real life if your a kid lots of thinks you do wont put you in prison i also think it is weird on how helping a person who is sick or whatever is bad because the guild said that they are marking people as flawed to keep people safe and when she tried to keep the old man safe she gets arrested

I'm curious about Carrick, and what he did? how did he end up in the cell ? is he flawed at all or is he a pawn? I don't know, but from what I can see there has been a lot of character development in him since when we first saw him. Our first look at him he is brought in by multiple guards and is familiar with his holding room, he makes no move to be friendly. And during the chapters we see him change little by little. first he is quite distant and makes no effort to get Celestine attention he actually moves as far away from her as possible at multiple occasions. the first sign of character starts after Celestine's trial when she returns covered in stuff. It says he jumps up and it sounds like he is concerned for her.

i think that the author is very good at using sensory details because like when the girl got put in the prison thing she described it by saying how it was like a normal house setup and there were 4 of them 2 on each side and a hall in the middle so i think she is very good at using sensory details to show soundings.

the pace of these chapters is very fast. I could not stop reading. I think that the tense scene was made better by the fast paced writing.I believe that the author accomplished the fast paced writing by using a shorter word choice and simpler vocabulary, so that the brain can process the familiar words, faster than new words.

the theme of these chapters is how quickly society can turn on someone. the first sign of this is when her little brother was worried that he will get in trouble if he passed her the salt. and as the chapters continues more examples pop up like her teachers refusing to teach her. the suggestion of home schooling so she doesn't ruin the school reputation.
