Bishan does not house many senior citizen centres or spaces specifically designed for senior citizens. This is because in my neighbourhood alone, the elderly are well-taken-care-of as there is an old folk's home in the midst and the facilities provided are of good quality. There is a Senior Activity Centre in Toa Payoh for elderly to make friends and engage in regular social activities. For the comfort of seniors living in Toa Payoh, the common areas have been made more senior-friendly and inclusive. For example, paving will be levelled, and features such as ramps and handrails will be installed. facilities in this neighbourhood are relatively catered to all ages. Shopping malls include quite a bit of sitting areas inside malls for the elderly who need them to rest. Public transport is quite accessible  especially the MRT stations along the blue line like King Albert Park station and Beauty World station which have lifts installed at the mouths of the overhead bridges. Eating areas like restaurants and cafes are also welcoming to all ages, with quite a bit of them located along low rise buildings in walking distances to each other and bus stations closely integrated along every street. There are also quite a number of wet markets and general supermarkets where they would be attracted to do their shopping. I would give my neighbourhood a 4 for elderly-friendliness as there are many plus-sides to it such as amenities being nearby like Yew Tee Point, Hillion Mall and Lot 1 — all of which are accessible within a bus ride or are relatively walkable to. There are dedicated community spaces for them to congregate at to engage in activities like chinese chess, stretching and calisthenics. Buildings such as the newly renovated Choa Chua Kang Stadium still feature a ramp for wheelchair accessibility or for an easier time to climb up the stairs in contrast to taking the stairs. There have also been road renovations like right outside Yew Tee Point and Regent Secondary School where the width of the pedestrian crosswalks have been increased. Though I could feel that the width of walking pavements could be increased to accommodate more people. There are many elderly-friendly facilities an walkways such as wheelchair accessible pathways and exercise corners that allow the elderly to engage in non-strenuous physical activities. HDB apartments are also within close vicinity to bus stops or MRT stations which allows for easy access to public transport. There are also bird-watching corners at the void decks underneath HDB blocks which allows for entertainment. MRT stations and overhead bridges also have lifts installed. HDB flats are also within walking distance from supermarkets or coffeeshops which allows the elderly to shop for groceries with ease and eat and socialize with others. There are not many elderly care centres in the direct vicinity. The new Thomson East coast line has made travelling alot easier.
