Wallace Foundation Report & Vision Video Compared to The American School of Kuwait.

For the most part, in my teaching career thus far, I have been fortunate to have had supportive, innovative, and driven administrators. At both schools that I have worked for, in Kentucky and Kuwait, a mission/ vision statement has been the heart of the school. As a teacher, you are also expected to make it the center of instruction, as also mentioned in both the Wallace Foundation Report and the Video on Vision Statements. As mentioned in the Wallace Foundation Report, “collaborate, collaborate, collaborate!” Collaboration is key for leaders, and I do feel as though the leaders at ASK work together to set standards that best meet the needs of the students, and then support the teachers to meet these standards. I loved the following quote in the Wallace Foundation report, “The central part of being a great leader is cultivating leadership in others.”As I have mentioned prior, I believe that a big part of being a leader is building relationships with your teachers and helping them reach their best potential to meet the needs of their students. A culture for learning is crucial in a school setting for the administrators, teachers, students, and parents. As stated in the vision statement video, “believe students will rise to the occasion, and they will.”
