Choosing to leave my rehab aide job last December. At the time, it was a hard decision and felt like a mistake, but the position could not accommodate me being in this program and traveling back and forth. I am happy I made the decision so that I could focus on this program and use my extra time to spend time with loved ones before moving.

Dropping out of my first semester of college (undergrad) to travel the world. I didn't know what path I wanted to pursue at the time. International travel led me to Kinesiology which ultimately led me to OT.

Changing my major from nursing to health sciences halfway through my junior year of college. I had no clear plan at the time and had no idea where life was going to take me, but here I am and I am excited to be an OT :)

I've tried out a bunch of different jobs and hobbies -- back then, I would feel so unsure about the directions of my path. But now, I see my path as a culmination of experiences and connections, that ultimately led me to OT. I feel so sure about where I am now, and where I'm heading <3

I was browsing through my 1st FW L2 location's website..... what they do looks so amazing! I'm so excited and reasonably nervous, but more so excited because of the support we have from our professors and cohort.

I'm not sure if I would call it a mistake, but all of my relationships thus far. They haven't panned out and I haven't gotten married, but I've learned so much from each one. So much about how people are complex and worth loving and worth my time even if it's short. I'm also grateful I ended up in a different career than planned and at a different OT school than planned! To others all of these things may look like a mistake, but they have blessed me so much!

Leaving teaching

Every once in a while I think about how leaving teaching was a mistake. It feels like a bad breakup that I cannot get over. I feel like I failed my students and parents. Though I am not completely over it, I know my future self will thank me for choosing OT. My mental health and well-being are starting to thank me already. This journey will be the best mistake I ever made.

I am excited to take another step in this OT journey with FW! Although we won't be totally independent and practicing (which I am so grateful for hehe), we will still get to make little impacts as a FW student that ultimately are big impacts in other peoples lives! :)

Not pursuing osteopathic medicine. I wanted to become a DO and deep down in my heart, I still do but changed my mind during the pandemic. The disrespect and invalidation that doctors, nurses, and scientists got during a time of global medical crisis was very disappointing and heartbreaking to me. Additionally, osteopathic medicine is no longer practiced following the original principles of Dr. Andrew T. Still, founder and father of osteopathic medicine. DOs now practice with an allopathic approach and that's not what I want, so I chose to change to a more manualistic and holistic approach and decided to pursue either PT or OT.

Things are about to get real.
