I've chosen this image for several reasons: first, I think it shows the affectionate bonds created between humans and their pets very well. Secondly, it reminds me of my own childhood, when I used to play with a dog we had at home. But there is yet another reason which has to do with human values and education, which is my own belief that being in contact with animals as children is the seed to a respectful attitude towards them in adult life.

The role pets play in our lives goes far beyond being just great playmates and companions. Looking after them and accompanying them through every stage of their lives, from the moment they are born to the moment we lose them, is an enriching and memorable experience, which will contribute to make our children more responsible, mature and respectful to nature and all animal species in the future.
