Neorscientists created a worm that can not get intoxicated by alcohol using a drug that could help humans go through "alcohol withdrawl". They inserted a modified human alcohol target into the worms. They're goal was the prevent intoxication in the worms. "An alcohol target is any neuronal molecule that binds alcohol, of which there are many." These scientists believe they can find the reason to help people with alcohol addictions. The mutant only affects its response to alcohol. They found ways to make way the channel "insensitive" without damaging it's normal function.
