Qns: In what ways do these government subsidies benefit you?

Ans: I don’t have to pay for anything.

Ans: I am not fully sure of what MediSave or etc. is. Up until now, I don’t even know where these things come from.

Qns: These government subsidies are to help you pay a percentage of the price of things you buy.

Ans: Yes, that I know.

Qns: So since you think that it is good, how does it benefit you?

Ans: Like what I said earlier, I don’t have to pay as much. This way, I can save some money. For example, I don’t have to use such a large amount of money to pay for my medical fees.

Qns: So you are saying that you don’t have to pay as much as the original medical fee? As in it is a smaller fee to pay?

Ans: Yes...yes…

Qns: Are you grateful to the government for these government subsidies?

[0:10]Ans: I can rely on the government to help me with anything and it makes everything very convenient for me.

[0:23]Ans: It just makes everything very convenient. So I guess that means that the government is good. The government helps to increase the convenience of everything and maybe help us save money, especially for the older generation.

[0:41]Qns: So saving money is good as you have enough for personal spending?

[0:46]Ans: Yes. For example, there are discounts for the older generation, twice a week.

[0:52]Qns: There are also subsidies at the supermarket right?

[0:57]Ans: Yes, that is twice a week.

[1:04]Ans: Yes...yes…

[1:08]Qns: The government has already done so much for the people in Singapore. But is there any way you think it can be improved?

[1:18]Qns: Like how can government subsidies such as MediSave and MediShield be improved? For example, some of these schemes help with medical fees but how can it be better for you?

[1:36]Ans: Who again? How can the government improve? I am fine with how it is doing currently. I mean the government is good, they share their funds to help people. Again, the PG Card is to help the pioneer generation, the older folks, with their needs. So...improvements...I think that the government is already good enough to extend so much help. So I don’t think there is a need to improve. I can’t think of anything to improve.

[0:02]Ans: Of course the government needs to continuously improving. How can they not improve at all? 

[0:05]Qns: But you said the government is already very good right?

[0:06]Ans: Because I don’t know how to answer. How can the government improve?

[0:12]Qns: So you are saying that the government needs to improve constantly but you have no ideas at the moment?

[0:15]Ans: Yes. The government is already taking very good care of us.

[0:22]Qns: But do you hope for the government to take even better care of us?

[0:27]Ans: Yes...yes…They can improve by moving a step up in terms of taking care of not just the elderly but the whole country.
