My grandfather from Bihar migrated to Odisha for higher technical education which was lacking in his city of birth. It was difficult because he had to leave his friends and family and live in a new city all by himself and learn new cultures, new people, and different food. He chose Odisha because it wasn't far from Bihar. The worst thing about the migration is he had to leave back the food, people and places he had been used to. The good part is that he got to know new people, new cultures and explore new places.

I interviewed one of my family friends and I received the following information:
The person I interviewed is 40 years of age and was born in the town on Thrissur in the state of Kerala , India. She had first shifted to Mysore with her parents as a young girl and then after completing her graduation shifted to Bengaluru, Karnataka, India due to high scope for cooperate job opportunities. There were many pros and cons of her migration to Bengaluru. According to her through migrating to a cosmopolitan city she came across a diversity of people and became cognizant to different cultures and traditions and also started mingling with other people who have migrated to Bengaluru from different parts of the country. She chose Bangalore as it is the silicon valley of India . Though her migration had few pros at the same time it also had few cons. Back in her native town she was accustomed to living with her parents in a nice, cozy and comfortable home but here in the city (though she lives in a comfortable home now) the cost of living was high and it was difficult to find a house during her initial days for her budget. Things like having a nice traditional home meal, the silence of her native town and also the fact that she grew up there her whole life were difficult to leave. Furthermore , she also mentions that migration is a concept about which people have different perceptions.

My mom migrated from India to Europe (Germany) for higher education. She left India because there was limited opportunities in the field she wanted to study and the education abroad was of better quality. It was difficult to leave a place where she had lived for so long, and to part with her family and go to a completely different place. However, she also felt excited that she would get to experience a new country and also wanted to meet different people. The worst thing about migration was parting with a familiar environment, but the best thing was being exposed to a new environment.

So I used 2 sources to get some responses for my Interview questions. One of the sources was My cousin in Canada who sent this form link to all his friends who had migrated and The second source of data collection was a Discord community. I got several responses and kept the most genuine ones. I have around 13 responses and as a conclusion I could see the reason of migration for most of the people was either to Study or for better standards of living.

I have added all responses I collected in a PDF File: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bJz3_wnQ_ljbW5ES3yT9AdDtiGc6vx9O/view?usp=sharing

I interviewed my Dad, age 46. He was born in Mumbai and is currently a software engineer. He migrated from India to US in 1996 to pursue his Masters and get a job in US as the computer science field in the US was more cutting edge than that in India. It was an economic pull factor in terms of job opportunity and higher learning and was voluntary in nature. Some things that made it difficult to leave was leaving behind all of his family in India and adjusting to not having the familiarity of his home country- being thrust into a new culture and acclimating to the differences between customs. The roads and infrastructure were a lot better in the US, due to it being a more developed country, however calls back to India during that time were quite expensive, especially for a college student with a limited budget. As well, the off campus housing he lived in wasn't in a particularly safe region, making the walk to and from classes risky in nature.

The people I have interviewed had left India to find a better purpose and meet new people. All of the members found it hard to Migrate, as they were leaving back their previous life which was a big deal for them.

After Migrating they found it hard to adjust to the environment there and find a good job. Till they had found a job that could help them, they stayed at their friend's or relatives' homes. They were able to get good jobs soon enough after they reached there to continue their lives there.
Now all of them are doing very well for themselves and most of them have achieved what they were planning to achieve once they reach there.

The best would be to say about my parents. Both are Rajasthani Jains... but mom was born and brought up in Tirupati.. And dad was born and brought up in Chennai. They didn't even see each other before marriage. It's was an arranged marriage. Dad was abroad for his post graduation and mom was in Tirupati. Unexpected external Circumstances made them bond each other through this alliance. It was dads work which made them kept happening all around the world. Of their 15years of marriage, they shifted to 31 houses and roamed around 28 countries. Currently residing in India, as dads mom expired and they wanted to comfort the family, who lost their dear one. They shall shift back to USA in couple of years. Migrating yo a new country or state had never been difficult for my mom. She is so experienced that she needs only a night for a new transfer. And she handles all alone, with packing, loading, and transportation... Having two kids. The best part is they get to explore new culture, places, food, languages, etc.. They happen to get a satisfying life style.. Yet bond with the roots of Indian tradition and culture like taking blessing thrice a day, offering prayers, the whole family eats in one big/huge plate all days. Moreover, they happen to have happy bonding with elders who are three generations old. Though they lived abroad, nothing much made a difference in celebration of festivals. The same charm glows in their house . Only thing in all these years.. Is they faced difficulty with extreme harsh climatic conditions while transfer from one extreme end continent to another.

My dad, 44 years old, born in Andhra Pradesh. He decided to shit to Pune in 2008 for better employment from Hyderabad. His relationships with other families, friends and his familiarity with environment in Hyderabad made it strenuous for him to migrate. He wanted a more challenging and rewarding career opportunity. The foremost things that seemed adaptable in Pune after residing there was the weather conditions, which was way colder than Andhra Pradesh. The worst things about migrating was to obviously leave his relationships back again. The familiarity of his hometown was also pretty hard to leave behind and adapting to new circumstances in Pune took quite a while.

The person I chose to interview is my dad who is 45 years old now. He was born in a small town in Orissa and grew up there as well. He migrated inside Orissa a couple of times for better study opportunities but nothing significant. Well, after he was done with his studies my dad had migrated to Dehli in 2003. He moved there because he wanted to find a job that matched his skill. Which at that time wasn't present in his native. The cons were that he had to leave his family, and there were several cultural differences. He felt the absence of homecooked food and the comfortable environment of his home. Despite this, my dad got a job that he was satisfied with. Plus he's also a very curious person and loved exploring another city and learning about their cultures and traditions.

Interviews:
For the given task, I interviewed 2 people, one of which is my Uncle (my mothers brother), while the other one is a school friend of my Mother. Both people used to live in the USA, but later returned back to their home country of India for reasons soon to be discussed.

To begin, my uncle, aged 47, once moved into the United States of America as an Onsite software engineer in the year of 2012. Over in the US, he received a surplus of benefits, ranging from improved standards of living, to an overall positive environment, however, it is never always sunshine and rainbows. In the states, my Uncle faced homesickness, as he missed his friends and family, leading to his return back home in the year of 2019.

To continue, my mother's friend moved to the US in the year of 2014 with the hopes of seeking a job in the IT department. He was rather successful in his endeavors and most definitely increased his standards of living, but on the other hand, he too felt homesick, and was stressed out with the lack of mental support he received, causing him to return to India as well.

I interviewed my dad, 46, who migrated to the US more than 20 years ago for a more advanced education and for work.
A few more convincing factors for him was that the US was the leader in highly advanced technological industries, and many of his friends aspired to study and work there.
Moving out was difficult because it was the first time that he was outside of india, a completely different environment; and it was also the first time he ever went on a plane.
It also meant that he was financially dependent on himself, and had to manage himself without parents. He said that staying away from parents was very difficult, and he could only spend a few expensive minutes on a phone call with them.
It was surprising to him that people were freely carrying around guns in texas, and there were gun shops where you could walk right in and buy one. On top of all of that, there wasn't a proper health faucet!
However, not everything was in vain, because going to the US introduced many new experiences to him. It was an exciting place, and gave you the feeling to explore more, enriching your life experiences.
