This one is from Pete Rock, a producer and eMCee I discovered many years ago as a kid. He continues to make amazing music today.

This is the first song I will be adding to the playlist this year! I think this song is very great, it's one of my favorite My Chemical Romance songs and it's my second favorite off of Bullets.

This song is on the band's "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" album, released in 2002. It was their first album, released one year after they formed.

I think this album is very underrated, it gets overshadowed a lot and I believe it needs more attention.

This song is also important to me because I am currently learning it on bass. It's not too hard to learn, and I think I'll be able to get it soon! The baseline is very awesome.

In 2002, the band consisted of Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro- who have always been and always will be apart of the band. The drummer changes more often, at this time it was Matt Pelissier.

I also find this song very interesting because its name alludes to the story of the next album, 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge.' This album follows the Demolition Lovers, and I've always found it very cool how far Gerard thinks into the future.

:3

-Posted by Luna G.

I feel that this should be my first song I put on here because the song "Tourniquet" is from the first album I have ever heard by evanescence "Fallen" with there lead singer Amy Lee this is also on the same album as their most popular song "Bring me to life". it has some sensitive topics so I would understand if this song gets dinnined but it frames the problems someone may be dealing with as the same with this whole album it showcases the feelings of anxiety, disapare, hopelessness, Spiritual anguish,Vulnerability, desperation, and many more. you can tell with lines like these: the repeated chorus "My God, my tourniquet, return to me salvation" is a raw, vulnerable prayer. The speaker is bleeding out emotionally and spiritually, calling out to a higher power for help. The word "tourniquet" is used as a metaphor for God, the only one who can stop the bleeding and provide salvation. The lyrics "Do you remember me? Lost for so long / Will you be on the other side? / Or will you forget me?" express a deep-seated fear of being forgotten and abandoned, especially by a divine figure. During the bridge, the combination of screams and lyrics like "I'm dying, praying, bleeding and screaming" shows a cascade of overwhelming pain, sorrow, and regret. The mix of praying with screaming illustrates the desperate emotional state of the song's subject.

I got a book about The Beatles recently from our school library because the Beatles really are such an amazing band (even that is an understatement). The book was so intriguing, that, when I got home, I simply had to listen to The Beatles.

Of course I've been technically listening to The Beatles for a while. My parents love their music, so I've known about them since forever. However, after reading that book I'm definitely going to be listening to them more often.

This song is probably my favorite song by them. It was originally intended to be on their "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", yet it was instead released as an A-Side in 1967.

The band members did kind of change throughout Beatles history, but this song was recorded with what I consider to be the four core, main members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison.

This song is honestly so great, The Beatles are such an influential band and it'd be awesome if you took the time to listen to this song, and any other Beatles song. They were such an amazing band, one that will hopefully never be forgotten, things in the music world would be so much different without them.

-Posted by Luna G!!

The song intertwines themes of magic and love, using magical elements to express the depth and wonder of a relationship.

This song talks about a chaotic beach party and that why i love it, it reminds me of SpongeBob for some reason. It was released on April 1978 and it was inspired by a slideshow of abstract images, including lobsters on a grill, at an Atlanta disco in the late 1970s, which gave Fred Schneider the song title idea. The B-52's later developed this concept during a drunken jam session, adding their unique style and the Yoko Ono-inspired vocalizations by Cindy Wilson to create the song's signature chaotic sound. The title of this song was made by Schneider recalled thinking "Rock this, rock that... rock lobster!" and he felt it would be a great title of a song.

The lyrics focus on confidence, teamwork, and making your voice heard—important messages for middle schoolers figuring out who they are. Plus, its upbeat rhythm and bold attitude make it fun and exciting without being inappropriate.

I like this song because im a kpop fan and I think this song fits with our playlist with a song someone put in the playlist (im not going to put their name) with the loud beats and it also has no bad words.

This song is on Radiohead's album 'In Rainbows', released in 2007!

I'm not sure if I've already added this song to any of the playlists, but just in case I haven't, I'm adding it again! Even if I did, this song is super great, and it could stand to be on a few playlists.

This is my favorite Radiohead song, I love the way it sounds. It sounds very solemn, though I'd say the actual backstory isn't such as sad, as it's simply about Thom Yorke (the lead singer of Radiohead) and his close friend (who directed this music video) and fond memories of Oxford.

Radiohead also happens to be a band my mother really likes, along with an abundance of other awesome bands. This one, however, isn't one I remember either of my parents ever playing, but I'm sure my mom's heard it-she's seen Radiohead, and, in fact, has met Thom Yorke!

This song was really comforting to me, too, whenever I'm feeling down about anything at all. It just has that effect, with the way it sounds and whatnot.

I don't have much else to say about this song, but I totally recommend giving it a listen! Again, it's my favorite Radiohead song, and I do think the sound is very melancholy and pretty.

-Ending my long standing tradition of putting who posted this at the end, because though I had to do that with the old playlist, usernames now show up alongside the post; it'd just be redundant at this point.

It was released in 1998.

I believe this song is one of their most popular songs, if not THE most popular song, and for good reason! I know I use the word 'beautiful' to describe a lot of the songs I add on here, and, though it's perhaps redundant, I do think it describes this song as well.

The vocals are my favorite part of this song, though the entire thing is good. I think that Kim Deal and Black Francis did extremely well; it's hard to put into words exactly how this song sounds, and, what feelings it evokes, but the sentiment is there and prominent.

If you haven't heard this song, (I'm sure most people have, as, again, it's very well known) then I'm glad to bring its attention to you, it's totally amazing--and-I'm happy to introduce it to you!

This song is on Fall Out Boy's "Evening Out with Your Girlfriend" album (perhaps it's a slight bit of a mouthful, but ""emo"" songs/artists/album names have a tendency to be long) recorded in 2002. It was the first thing they ever released, but, still, it didn't come out until the next year, 2003.

This song is my favorite Fall Out Boy song of all time, and, unfortunately, it did take me a while to find out about it! I'd say I was listening to Fall Out Boy for at least a few months, maybe a year, before I found it. I hope in putting it on the playlist I can help anyone who may end up liking it know of its knowledge much quicker than I did!

Regarding the aforementioned information about Fall Out Boy's first release, it was decided to be an EP rather than an album because the members of Fall Out Boy felt dissatisfied with Evening Out with Your Girlfriend as a whole. It was recorded in only two days, so, rushed, and it was recorded with a low budget.

Despite all of this, I am still a big fan of this song, and, moving my bias to the side, yes I can see how people may not like this song, and, yes I can see how this song could be dislike-able to some people, but that doesn't change MY opinion on it! I think it's a super cool song, and, if you happen to like it, then that's super awesome, and if you don't, then, I begrudgingly understand.

My Chemical Romance released this in 2005 on an album with a bunch of other rock-related Christmas songs. Not all the songs are MCR, obviously, it's more so of a compilation album with a bunch of artists who did covers/made their own Christmas songs. Out of every Christmas song in the album, and really in general, this one is my favorite, mostly because it's MCR.

Thanks to mixtape DJ's, I've been introduced to tons of XMas songs I never knew existed if not for the DJs who would assemble some of the best mixtapes in time for the holidays that I'd ever heard. It's provided some really cool background tunes for wrapping gifts or getting from point A to point B on the road to and from. Here's one of those songs from The Harvey Avenue Band, who I've never heard of before. The website Discogs says this was released in 1971. The image in the video is of a .45, which is a 7-inch vinyl record that plays at 45 revolutions per minute. These were huge during the jukebox era, and looking them up makes me want to read more about the history of .45 vinyl. Over the years I've found hundreds of these records I still own today, and continue to find and purchase new ones that some artist are having made these days. I even have a few boxes that were specifically made to hold the small records.

They're metalcore/screamo band, one that I found out about pretty recently.

This is a cool song by them because it's just like a rock version of a song off of The Legend of Zelda's soundtrack, and I also think the title is a play on Hawthorne Height's song "Ohio Is For Lovers" which is another great song.

I didn't exactly want to add THIS song of theirs, but it was one of the only ones that was available for the school accounts on YouTube. Honestly, I just wanted to get this artist on the playlist, they're one of my favorites as of late and I've been listening to them a LOT as of late.

Another cool thing about this band is that despite the fact that this band formed in 2009, and despite the fact that they're relatively niche (to an extent, they have 33.3k monthly Spotify listeners), they're still very active! They have albums released last year, they post on their Instagram a lot, they've been doing a lot of shows recently, and they got a new member not too long ago. It's always awesome finding bands that are still active that formed more than ten years ago, because I feel like a lot of bands end up just disappearing which is very disappointing. Deadbeat Nightlife, however, didn't!

This is my favorite song from the "Troy Saga" which is a chapter from "Epic the Musical" Here our Main character, Odysseus has to kill the son of the enemy, because if he doesn't the boy will grow and get revenge on Odysseus and his family yet he's having a hard time to kill the poor child. The musical is actually based on a Greek mythology story called the Odyssey where the hero Odysseus has a long journey coming back from war and trying to get to his beloved wife and son yet faces many challenges. I really like the different rhythms of how intense the musical gets!!! I hope you enjoy it!!!

Sincerely, Master Splinter :D

This is another song from the chapter "Troy Saga" from Epic the Musical, this is where Odysseus and his best friend, Polites are trying to find food for their crew. Odysseus just wants to get this over with and if needed he will end any creature that comes his way on the other hand Polites is trying to get Odysseus to relax and roll with it. This is honestly a good beat (and one of the only happy songs...) it gives you a reminder that it is ok to let your guard down and take a break!!!

I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do!!!

Sincerely Sophia Saucedo/ Master Splinter

:D

((Bohemian Rhapsody)) by Queen

Bohemian Rhapsody is literally my favorite Queen song ever!! (and probably the favorite song of most queen fans you meet)Queen was made of four members named Freddie Mercury (the lead singer), Brian May(the guitarist),Roger Taylor(the drummer) and John Deacon(the bassist). Queen was originally named Smile before Freddie Mercury entered after him and John Deacon joined and then changed the name to Queen and grew to fame!! They were able to make amazing hits that we still listen to today !! Some examples are, We will rock you, Another one bites the dust, and Don't stop me now, yet their biggest hit that is still popular today is Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen was able to experiment in the making of this song by combining Opera, rock and more genres which made it a hit!! They also named the movie of Freddie Mercury's life "Bohemian Rhapsody (which is my favorite biographical movie now!!) It is how he met the band and was able to grow to fame!! (It is also the reason I became obsessed with Queen!!) Well anyway I hope you enjoy the song as much as I do!!!

Sincerely Sophia Saucedo/Master Splinter

:D

((Everyday Life)) by Billy Townes

I would like to bring this particular track home, real close to home. Not just because Billy Townes is an El Pasoan, but because he was once a student at Canyon Hills Middle School. If you go back in time, to the yearbooks of Canyon's first years (We have them at the library!) you'll see Billy Townes in one of those yearbooks with classmates, back then referred to as Cobras, they were among the first graduating class of Cobras at Canyon Hills Middle School. Townes was a big part of the music program then and would go on to have an illustrious career in music that would include all kinds live shows throughout El Paso. He performs everywhere and is also on social media promoting his next gig. During the pandemic I had the opportunity to interview him on Zoom and I have some really cool clips of him telling stories of what Canyon Hills Middle School was like during the 70s. He has so many cool stories and even knows other alumni throughout the city and country and world, who once attended Canyon Hills and are now doing big things. When I first arrived to Canyon Hills we had a big ole end of the year event where Billy Townes actually arrived to our gym and had the opportunity to perform. I had heard about Billy Townes some years ago when I was a radio dj in New Mexico. A few folks in the Hip Hop community would share his name and so I was excited to see him play. He was performing with our student, Nathan, who would go on to perform for UTEP for many years. I even saw Nathan sing the national anthem at the Don Haskins Center and have that recorded as well. I was so proud to see it. Maybe someday I will share clips of Nathan and Townes performing at Canyon, so you could see our raucous students enjoying the sounds of one of the most brilliant piano players our community has ever seen. One thing I learned about him when I interviewed him during the shut down was that he also teaches music classes and software at El Paso Community College. Hope you enjoy this video and the ride up towards McKelligon Canyon Amphitheater which is literally about ten minutes away from us, I would even say an extension of our community. It would be a wonderful space to see any band perform in the magic of our beautiful land here in the Franklin Mountains.

This song is on My Chemical Romance's EP 'Live On The Murder Scene' which came out in 2006. The EP consisted of a few live versions of certain MCR songs off of Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, and maybe one off of Bullets. However a few, including this song, are original songs not heard before.

This is my favorite My Chemical Romance song, and really, my favorite song ever. I really love it, I don't know how to explain, but I do think it sounds really beautiful and solemn. I could listen to it forever and never get bored. I think that the lyrics and the sound of the song match perfectly.

I love this song so much, which is why I've been saving it for the last day of Creative Media. Other than Thursday, this is the last time I'll see any people in Creative Media while I'm in 7th grade. Next year, I'll be in my last year of middle school, which is pretty crazy to think about; I think this song is a really perfect song to end the year.
