I loved being able to dress up! My favorite Halloween costume I ever wore when I was younger was the Queen of Hearts from Alice and Wonderland!  My favorite Halloween candy is Reeses Peanut Butter Cups!

Scariest moments... most Halloween related things terrify me! I don't like anything scary, especially scary movies!  The one highlight of Halloween that is a tradition is to watch Hocus Pocus a million times, which has one of my favorite Halloween songs!  I hope you have a wonderful Halloween :).

I was raised on horror and sci-fi, so I spend most of my autumn weekends curled up with some coffee or tea marathoning the classics like The Thing, 30 Days of Night, Alien, all of the must-see movies of the genre. I'm not a huge chocolate guy (I know it's a crime) so my favorite candies are usually more of the sweet and gummy variety including Sour Patch Watermelon, Mike and Ikes, and Skittles.  

I love going all out with costumes whenever I get the chance. My favorite from recent years is the awesome Spider Man costume you see attached! To add a musical spin, I envisioned becoming a stone sculpture of Beethoven.  Several trips to thrift stores found me a suitable coat, cravat, and shirt while a quick search on Amazon landed me a wig, hair and fabric paints, make-up, and a nose prosthesis. 

First, I adhered the coat and cravat to the shirt, cut it all in half at chest level, and painted the fabric a dusty grey-white.  A cut down the back—fashioned with velcro—made for easy on-off wearing.  A bit of black paint flecked on with a toothbrush provided marbleized texture and dimension.  Second, I greyed the white wig I had purchased, stylized it, and set with absurdly large amounts of hairspray.  The final touches were a bulbous latex nose, copious amounts of white foundation and various shades of grey and black for shadowing and contouring, stone-colored lipstick, and finishing powder. 

As a fun touch, I designed a pedestal iron-on T-shirt that gave the illusion of my upper torso and head resting on a bust stand.

On this day, I put aside all of my editing tasks and spent 4 fours in a makeup chair to have my face scarred up with latex to approximate the visage of BARON ZEMO, arch-foe of Marvel's Captain America. Zemo had his mug permanently marred after dunking his head in molten-hot "Adhesive X"... of course, he USUALLY wears a full hood face-mask and crown befitting his royal supervillain status.

The milk was real and curdled under the hot photo lights. That's vanilla buttercream frosting on my upper lip. My gloves are Lysol dishwashing gloves with Sharpie highlights.

As an actor, I am attracted to expressing identity through performance. Halloween, then, has always been a natural fit. I don't just like wearing a costume, but actually becoming the character I've chosen. I know, sometimes it gets weird. But I'm ok with that.

Now, as much as I love horror and darkness, character options are wide open (I became Bob Ross a few years back). My son, Dario, has become OBSESSED with the Beatles over the past year. Naturally, he  wanted to "creep" into character for Halloween. Here he is, rehearsing his Sir Paul McCartney.
