During the sensorimotor stage, from birth to 2 years old, there is a lot of growing and development going on. The sensorimotor stage involves movements and instincts, learn about the environment through their actions and listening, etc.
The Pre-operational Stage, from 2 to 7 years old, they begin to learn to use words and improve language and overall thinking.
The Concrete Operational Stage, between the ages 7 to 11 years old, thinking improves even more, as logic, problem solving skills, etc all begin to come together.
Lastly, The Formal Operational Stage, ages 12 and up, not only have potential skills of critical thinking and problem solving, but also think in a more philosophical and social way.
