Secondary source is the 1975 film Mandingo, a movie that was criticized for its portrayal of black men. In this movie, black men are as sexually aggressive and insatiable, reduced to a fetishistic caricature.

2 primary sources are a case study on the effects of negative portrayals of black people on television on college students’ perception of black people, and a 2018 Herald Sun comic depicting Serena Williams’ outburst at the U.S. Open Final. The comic was criticized for its depiction of Williams as disobedient, animalistic and unladylike, an old stereotype used against black women.
