Draw a line with your pencil about 3cm from the bottom on each. Draw over the the lines with the different coloured textas three times. Put them on the straw. Measure the amount of salt solution you need. It should touch the bottom of the filter paper. Put the straw on the top of the beaker and let the filter paper start soaking  up the salt solution. Take them out when the inks have all separated and reached the top of the filter paper.
