This way, the teacher can allow for an equal opportunity for all students to be successful no matter who they are or what they're going through. Lessons should be applicable for all students, and extra help should be provided for any student who is struggling with learning the content to provide the most success possible. Elementary classrooms are vastly diverse, thus why it's important to provide the supports needed for each student to be successful in mathematics and in general.

-Johnny Bizon

Students should be able to understand how they got an answer and why that is the answer. Math is important for students to understand because it is used daily inside and outside of school. It is important for students to understand the importance of math and it should be enjoyable for students. Students should be curious and want to learn more and by creating an enjoyable math learning environment.

- Abbey McCormick

As a teacher it is important to remain positive while teaching math and always encourage your students instead of just telling them they are wrong. It is also important to incorporate different teaching techniques for example relying on more visuals or doing more hands-on activities. Students need to believe they are capable of doing math so it is important to help and encourage them that everyone can do math.

-Abbey McCormick

To help students best develop mathematical understanding is to not have them just memorize formulas and how to do applications, but to have them understand the how and why they got the solutions they did. An idea to help develop deep understanding is by using real life examples so they can use that comparison in their life and see the connections made. Connections are the most important ways for students to gain a deeper understanding of the math topics.

- Abbey McCormick

Not every student learns the same. As a teacher, it is our job to figure out how we can best teach our students and find the most effective way for them to learn. This can mean that you provide many alternatives to the lesson or split students into groups based on their level of understanding. You need to use your knowledge in teaching the subject in an effective way for all students. Some students may get bored because what they are learning/what assignments you give are too easy. It can be the same for students who believe their work is too hard. We need to figure out the balance where everyone is getting the information they need.

- Dianna LeCrone
