Educational theories are generally organized in three different categories: behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism.

Behaviorism: People learn through repeated acts. If a process is repeated a number of times, people will learn the concept. Students learn through practice and memorization of facts.

The key concepts of behaviorism: contiguity, reinforcement, stimulus-response, operant conditioning, and contingency.

Cognitivism: focus on mental processes, including how people perceive, think , remember, learn, solve problems , and direct their attention to one stimulus (thing or evident) rather than another. When learners receive information, they have to process it to acquire knowledge. How a person processes information.

Constructivism: individual s or learners do not acquire knowledge and understanding , understanding and knowledge through understanding. Learners acquire learning through discovery, being presented with a problem to solve and relating the problem to prior experience
