I was named by my grandmother after her baby daughter Rita, who died at the age of 3 months of the scarlet fever.
The meaning of Rita in different cultures varies - in Spanish and America the meaning of the name Rita is PEARL. In Persian it means CHILD OF LIGHT, in Greek it means SPEAKER. In Lithuanian it is a very similar word to "morning" = rytas.

I am a teacher of children with special needs.
About my future experience: " The watch will lie. Why do I say that? An hour on the island of Guadeloupe will not last the same as an hour at work.
My parents named me this way by family tradition because it was the name of my great-grandfather, grandfather and father. José Luis is a masculine name of Hebrew origin from José and of Germanic origin from Luis. The meaning of José is "God's greatness" and the meaning of Luis is "Man Warrior".

My nickname is Maryam, although my real full name is Mª de los Ángeles. In my country and at the time I was born, my parents couldn't give me the name they really wanted because it wasn't a Catholic name. I was born in a religious hospital and they had to give me the first name María (the name of the virgin) and then, another name that together would sound like María...An. The end result was María de los Ángeles. Maryam is a variant of the latin name "María", from "Mariam" of the Greek New Testament. It can mean "rebellious", but probably derived from the ancient Egyptian Mr "love" or mry, "beloved".

Andreas is of Greek origin, the meaning of Andreas is "man, warrior", in some languages it means “brave” – but all these names don’t fit me well. I haven’t even done my military service but a civil service. I think that my parents have chosen my name because of the disciple of Jesus in the bible, they are very catholic. Besides, in Germany the name is one of the typical names for men of my age.

In Finland parents tend to give their children names that please them, or are fashionable at the time. Sometimes they choose names that are passed on in the family.

My name Sanna was a popular feminine name in the 70's and 80's, but these days it's quite a rare name for a new born baby. It is derived from Susanna, which is Hebrew and means lily. It has also been said that it is a nickname for Russian Aleksandra. Either way, I like my name!

Hi everyone!

My name Pipsa is very rare - there are less than a thousand Pipsas in Finland (and probably in the whole world 😁). Nowadays I have a popular namesake, because Peppa the Pig is translated in Finland as Pipsa.

My parents liked the sound of Pipsa so they gave it for me. One reason was also that my mom (as a teacher) didn’t want a name that would be popular at the time so all the students would have the same name with the daughter.

I have no nicknames and luckily everyone says Pipsa the perfect name for me. I think so too ❤️

Thus the name Imke is a nickname for old German names (such as Irmgard) and has been used for centuries in (Eastern) Frisia. My parents chose to give all their children short and typical (Eastern) Frisian names My parents gave all their children short catchy East Frisian names that are easy to pronounce in German and simply spelled. In Germany, children are mostly named according to current zeitgeist. Some people have the tradition to name their children after ancestors. Therefore, I carry the names of my great-grandmothers as additional first names.

Hi everybody :)
My name is Tina (but it's not a nickname^^).
In Germany, "Tina" is the short form of the names Martina, Christina and Bettina and therefore it has different meanings and origins.
My parents could not agree on a name. So my brother, who was four years old at the time, made the suggestion; he had a kindergarten friend who had that name (I guess that was the abbreviation).
On the one hand, there are traditional families who name their children after ancestors, family members or famous people. On the other hand, many are free and choose names for their children that they like - as my parents did.
