The Crucible is a play focused on the Salem Witch trials in the 1600's. The Salem witch trials were sparked by the behavioral issues of puritan girls. Puritans believed in God and believed that certain people were chosen by god to go to heaven. They strongly believed in being pure and relied on the bible. When young puritan girls began acting strange, they were immediately accused of being witches. To take the spotlight off themselves and to save themselves, they accused others in the village of cursing them. This created worry, fear, and tension through out. This ruined peoples reputations and how they were seen by others.
