This was the first thing i've learned about hinduism. I liked the story about the creation of Ganesh although it was violent.
I have never heard about Sikkism and I like that they accept all other religions.

I learned about how Islam is often viewed negatively through violent stereotypes, however, the religion itself is rather peaceful. It requires full commitment and there is a full routine of practices involved to reach the goal of inner peace.

Today I learned that there is a religion called Sikhism. I had never heard of this religion before class today, which I found surprising once I discovered that it is actually the fifth largest religion in the world. Also, now that I know this religion is still growing, it makes me wonder how much more prominent it will become in the years to come. I particularly like that they do not discriminate against other religions; they accept all religions as valid, yet they only believe in one God. I am also interested in learning more about this religion so I may research it on my own as well.

Today I learned that there are hundreds of religions. A lot of these religions I have never heard of before. These religions are also very peaceful and are all about wanting to give back. I thought that it was very interesting that the Islam religion will pray 5 times a day. I thought that it was very interesting that the Sikhism religion believes that all of the other religions are valid because of the time religions argue back and forth about what is right and wrong. Today really opened my eyes to the other religions in the world.

I also did not know that this was a relatively new religion, at only about 500 years old. I thought that this information was incredibly interesting because it is also growing rapidly, much like Abrahamic religions did when monotheism was introduced.

Today in class I learned that Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama. They also believe that if you follow the 8 fold path then you will find Nirvana. Nirvana means you achieve complete balance. I also learned about Islam. In the Islamic faith you will pray 5 times a day towards Mecca. They also fast for Ramadan. Ramadan being that you do not eat or drink during the daylight hours. I can only imagine how humbling and hard this experience would be.

The story of a woman who breathed her doll to life, a man who had a very short temper, and an elephant who had a great amount of generosity, was extremely interesting to me and taught me a lot about religious diversity. I have always tried to be opened minded about other religions and have tried to understand what they practice and why so that I could get an understanding of that person's belief, but sometimes it is hard. Trying to understand this story and where Hinduism comes from really challenges me since it naturally does not make sense to me. However, today I learned the very important lesson that no matter what the religion is, it deserves to be taught, learned and discussed in the classroom so that students are aware of these different religions and don't fall into the stereotypical thoughts of the religion.

I had never considered the Indigenous Belief System or Native American Spirituality, but it was interesting to learn about what they believe. I learned that Indigenous thinkers believe in many Gods and have an earth-based view. I also learned that there are many similarities between all of these religions.
