When my Auntie Lauren was in her twenties, she got into a very bad car accident and suffered from a coma which resulted in a TBI when she woke up. My Auntie Lauren has had her ups and downs over the years. She is able to drive, work, and live on her own, but some tasks are difficult for her. She often has trouble communicating with family and does things that she thinks are normal, but in reality they aren't. My aunt also suffers with bipolar disorder and manic depression which doesn't help much with her TBI. She takes medication but when she is feeling good and acting normal(ish), she stops taking her medications because she feels although she doesn't need them when in reality she does. She has had her successes but she also has her struggles that seem to stand out a lot more to others, myself included.
