During November and December 1999, TFI Friday included a segment titled 'Someone's gonna be a millionaire'. Inspired by 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?', which debut a year before this parody. '

Who wants to be a Millionaire?' reached its peak in 1999, accumulating up to 19 million viewers , so it's clear why TFI Friday would parody this show, since it was very popular within this time period, many viewers would be familiar with the name and concept.

The fact that TFI's parody used the word 'someone' and that they were actually rewarding the winner with a million pounds would have connoted to the audience that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to win a million pounds and would've convinced them to get involved in the show. the fact that it was also the second show to. actually reward £1,000,000, would've gained mass media attention and would've convinced more people to tune into the show.

Before the beginning of a majority of shows, TFI Friday would perform a skit which would reference news within the music industry, for example, their pilot episode consisted of a doctors skit, poking fun at the downfall of 'Top of the Pops', and their second episode's opening referenced the break-up of 'Take That'.
