The Imported Cobalt-on-White Bowl is an Islamic earthenware; painted in blue over an opaque white glaze. This type of porcelains was made as an imitation of Chinese porcelains. The painted leaves on the bottom of the bowl are more of a painted than the having put down some leaves and glazing them over it (1). The Jar with Four Lug Handles is also another Islamic piece of earthenware with blue painted on opaque white glaze. The Abbasid artists would often use the techniques that were developed in the imitation of the Chinese stoneware bowls and other vessels. The leaves on the sides are giving the feel of more realistic leaves but the lines are much more thicker (2). The Kamares jar is from the Middle Kingdom, the medium is potter with paint. This vessel could have been imitated in Egypt. This piece was originally three joined vessels with a loop handle.  The leaf markings looks more still than curving naturally with the jar. The leaves become slightly smaller as it tapers down but not small enough to see dimension.
