After obtaining his bachelor of science in biochemistry from Northeastern University, Alexander Cherkassky found work with the medical detection and imaging technology company PerkinElmer in Waltham, Massachusetts. He would remain with PerkinElmer for 16 years. During this time, he twice returned to the academic environment, securing a master of science in bioinformatics from Boston University and a master of business administration with a concentration on technology management from the New York Institute of Technology. Mr. Cherkassky earned all three of his degrees with academic honors.
