The original steam engines as we think of them were made in the 1600's and were used to raise weights.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Movies were introduced to the public in December 1895 by the Lumbière brothers, in France. It wasn't like movies now but it was moving pictures. They did this by their own device called the Cinématographe, which was a camera, a projector and a film printer all in one. They created the first movie because they wanted to take the films out of Edison's box and show them to a bigger audience. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance weapon or self-steering bullets: The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, is developing a self-steering bullet, able to change trajectory after it's shot. It can adjust itself for the weather and hits targets that are actively evading, it also improves range. It allows novice shooters to have the accuracy of a professional sharp-shooter and allows them to even hit moving targets. The U.S. government has not disclosed who made the bullet and how it works, but it's theorized that it uses small fins that shoot out of the bullet and re-direct its path.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Boyle Apparatus: This apparatus provided a continuous flow of anesthetic, allowing for easier and consistent sedation of patients. Dr. Henry E. G. Boyle’s design was based on the Gwathmey Apparatus, Boyle found this apparatus to be unreliable, so he modified the design. More than 100 years later and the basic structure of his design is still being used in hospitals today, with only minor changes being made to provide patients with more safety.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Refrigerator: Refrigerators cool down foods usually to slow bacterial growth. The refrigerator works by evaporating liquid chemicals. These liquids are pushed through tubes and there they begin to vaporize. These vapors carry heat away with them as the gases travel to a coil on the outside of the refrigerator, where the heat is released. The original refrigerator was invented by John Gorrie, although it's been improved upon a lot.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>The first movie</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>from what I found there could be three answers. The first one could have been made in 1872 by a guy named Edward Muybridge of horses going across a screen. The next one was in 1903 called the great train robbery made by Edwin S. Porter , and the final possible answer would be 1908 The Count of Monte Cristo made by Tom Persons and Francis Boggs. I would have to say out of the films listed the one from 1903 and the one from 1908 sound more closely related to what we have to day and they one from 1872 sounds like it was just one of the build blocks for a movie rather than a movie. I then found a few answers for how movies had impacted society and from what it said it sounds like it was mainly to get people away from the things that may have been going bad at that time, and it was also used as a way to spread propaganda. </div>]]></description>

Dr Percy Spencer was experimenting with magnetron for radar systems and discovered that the candy in his pocket melted due to the rapid temperature rise. He then tried to cook other things, and it worked. The Microwave revolutionized cooking. The first microwave oven weighed about 750 pounds and costed $5,000.</div>]]></description>

Its explosion created an enormous 40,000 feet high mushroom cloud. The Fat Man, an atomic bomb, killed around 40,000 people on impact when dropped on the city of Nagasaki, and it wasn't even directly on target.</div>]]></description>
