The variety of authors' backgrounds, from survivors to those who deny it, each using different mediums such as literature, poems, songs, movies, theaters, to depict their perception. One of the challenges is to turn the tragedy into an artistic field that can have a double expression: on the one side, making it more affordable to speak about the suffering and non-sense of the German nation's cruelty, and on the other hand, to transform the genocide into a fictional movies. Therefore, this course provides an interesting analysis of the different ways this topic can be viewed, having the narrative of even the deniers in focus.

Through the semester this course taught in a very variety way, counting with an amazing group of professionals who shared with us their mastery. Although at the beginning was a little bit confused, after I saw a lot of improvement on the organization, classes and schedule. Nevertheless, for me had been a very intensive course with a lot of quantity of assignments , a little bit too much for a graduated semester course.

The lense through which I have viewed or known anything about the Holocaust was a particularly specific one- that of the traumatized Polish survivor. Being able to study, read, listen to and view an incredibly wide variety of scholarly work (including the critical) gave me a significantly more well rounded basis of knowledge for understanding the global impact of the Holocaust

The platform on which the course was built was truly remarkable. Rivki and Shay- your collaboration and hours of back end preparation was incredibly fruitful. The course materials and extension were impeccably curated and organized on Canvas. Each module was able to encapsulate all aspects of the unit from pre to post session materials as well as the engagement (assignment) component as well. The sources and interviews came from an incredibly wide network of scholarship and when pooled together for each module they provided a depth and breadth unable to be reached with each component alone- only with their compilation. You utilized all parts of Canvas to include the uploading and grading of assignments and their feedback to the use of weighted averages and that was very much appreciated. The WhatsApp group fostered our community and allowed for us to have an “unofficial” line of communication. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

My name is Chaim Gottesman. I attended Ner Israel Yeshiva in Baltimore where I received smicha (ordination). I was a teacher and administrator in a Jewish high school and then went into business. After several decades I sold the business and we spend about 5-6 months of the year in Jeerusalem (pre-Covid). While in Israel I am able to teach at various seminaries for American girls. I continue to do so now via Zoom. My parents were both survivors that had spent times in the camps. Hardly spoke about it though. Wish to teach Holocaust related subjects as well.

Thank you all for a great class - one of the brightest groups of people I have ever had a chance to work with. It was you, with your refelctions, comments and genuine interest in the subject that made this course so special. Thank you also, Rivki, for making this content highly accessibly and digestible for an on-line course format. You did an amazing job.
