A pig named Old Major gives a speech to the animals as he knows he is to die soon. In his Speech he says that the animals will soon revolt against the humans and no longer be slaves. Then he dies. The animals begin there revolution and two pigs immediately take the role of the leader. These pigs are Snowball and Napoleon. After they over throw the humans running the farm life for them begins to get better. The animals write commandments on the wall of the barn for every animal to obey. Snowball was having one of his meetings with the animals when Napoleon uses dogs he trained to run him off the farm. Napoleon is now a strict leader. The animals are ignorant except for the pigs, so the pigs are able to make there life better while making the animals life worse. Slowly the animals begin to starve and have hard labor for the benefit of only the pigs. At this point Napoleon has installed a completely strict government, and anyone who opposes gets executed.

Until 1918 Finland was under the rule of Russia. Russia kept a strict rule over the Finnish people and forced them into communism even though many people in the country wanted to believe in more capitalistic ways. However on January 27, 1918 the Finnish people had enough. The country split in two, Red Finland and White Finland. Red Finland was supported by the soviet union while white Finland was supported by the German empire. The war lasted three months and ended up in a White victory over the reds. The soviet union was then forced to give the Finns there own country and no longer have any influence over them.
