The Republicans are attempting to move forward with their tax reform bill that will change the income situation for all Americans. A big part of the loss for Americans will be the fact that the legislation will affect the current health care system that so many of us rely on. According to the CBO, that would result in 13 million fewer people being covered by 2027. The bill in particular will affect those who make less than $40,000 per year. By the year 2025, people in that income bracket will likely see their money take a hit. The reason for that is because the government is putting special tax breaks in for everyone during the first 8 years or so because they need to show the public that it is a good thing. After that time period, all off the tax breaks will go away and then only those who make more than $75,000 per year will be left in a positive situation. Republicans argue that the CBO is making their calculations in part by basing them on whether or not people are able to sign up for subsidized health insurance after the new bill takes effect. Republicans do not think that the ability to acquire help paying for healthcare should be calculated as a loss in income.

I personally think it is ethically wrong for the Republicans to try and convince the general public that their bill is going to create a massive amount of wealth and millions of well paying jobs. While it is true that tax breaks can help companies grow, many of those extra profits either get stuck overseas to avoid taxation or paid out to executives in the form of bonuses. It is hard for those people who rely on the government subsidies for their healthcare because without that money, they will probably go back to living without healthcare like they had to before Obamacare. I think that we should make a tax plan that includes subsidies for healthcare and tax that requires all of the most wealthy people to at least pay their fair share. That way the middle class will be able to grow again and the country will possibly be able to thrive more than it had in the past.
