-While alcohol abuse has been prevalent over the years, new drugs and methods, like vaping as well as perceptions regarding the legalization of marijuana, over-reliance on prescription medications, and the opioid epidemic have shifted the mindset regarding what some families accept and experience as usual and expected (Evolution) (Culture)

-Building trust and strong relationships over time by demonstrating compassion in non-judgmental ways has led to increased parent interest in seeking out help in the district through school administration, Mr. Bob, and outside community resources suggested to them (Empathy) (Relationships) (Support) (Collaboration) (Advocacy)
