George was appointed as the general of the Continental Army. But being the leader of the army was hard. George was leading a ragtag army of colonial farmers against an army of trained British soldiers. George won and lost battles. Some of the battles were the Crossing of the Delaware River and the Battle of Yorktown. Later, George Washington became the first president of the United States and was president for 8 years or 2 terms. After that, George Washington resigned from the Presidential office. A few years after that, George caught a bad cold and died on December 14, 1799.
