My initial response is to be wary of the reason for instructing something not to be put in writing. Is there a deliberate attempt to circumvent governance systems and protect a bad actor, or hide a negative outcome from some previous action? I would respond by asking why they are requesting this be not captured in writing.

First argument: Please do not put their complaint about my behaviour in writing. I didn't do anything wrong and this will affect my standing as a manager and create reputational damage for our organisation.

Second argument: I need to put their complaint about your behaviour in writing as an official record, as our organisation has an internal complaints management process that will objectively review the complaint and absolve you of any wrong doing if there is no issue. There may be greater reputational damage done to our organisation if there is a perception of, or actual covering up of misconduct.
