I, sadly, have not given enough time or detail to having my students explore the stories of leaders other than the leaders provided in my unit plan for ancient world history. As I finish up my first year of teaching I have realized how I want to change this moving into my second year. Rather than teaching towards a test or unit plan, I want to empower my students to become academic AND social leaders, which requires them to understand and know past leaders that have come before them.
