My name is Judith, which means "Jewess" or "the praised one". The former does not apply to me, because I grew up in a Protestant family. I like the second one - "the praised one" ;) I like my name because it shows my mother's courage and despite. She gave me this name in 1987, in the former gdr, hoping that 1933 would never happen again. Not in Germany and nowhere else neither.
Unfortunately i can't identify any particular tradition in contemporary naming in germany. Nordic names are in vogue at the moment, but boys especially have short names. the parents i know didn't make it easy for themselves to find a name for their child. The name should sound harmonious and still be original, may it guarantee the best career prospects, but it should be international and at the same time unique. In addition, it must not be too long, not too old-fashioned, not too extravagant or too quirky. But it should give character, while signaling cosmopolitanism and just not mean anything stupid. my children's names are Nele-Finnja, Clea Pippilotta, Toni Kallisto Aimée. I think I fit quite well into the tradition of newer naming in germany (oxymoron: tradition and new) described above.

HI:)My name is Eliza. The people who wanted to give me that name were my dear grandma and my father and it happened in 1981;)At present I think it was the right choice:) Initially, when I was a young girl I didn't like my name because it wasn't typical. After years I realised that it's something specific and unusual in my name. Coming back to the background of this name...Eliza is a separate name but it comes from the longer version" Elizabeth" . Both names come from Hebrew and mean " God my oath". Women who have this name are independent and resourceful and I think I can agree with this:) Eliza is really involved in her family and that is absolutely True. The number of that name is eight which means that it has a hesitating vibration and this shows the extreme.

My name is Maria. This is the name of the Mother of Christ. The Greek origin of the name possibly means "rebellious", but probably the name goes even further back to Ancient Egyptian origins where it meant "love" or " my beloved". In France , Marie came from the Latin "Stella maris" , which means " star of the sea". This name stands with number 6 which means the sense of responsibility, a desire to protect and care for others , whilst maintaining a cheerful and stable existence. The number 6 is generally quite sensible and prudent but may also be too idealistic, looking for some perfection. The name Maria resonates with the emotional energy. Name colour : indigo-it's a colour of integrity and fearlessness. Lucky numbers for Maria are: 3,5,16,24 and 38. Lucky weekday is Monday and Lucky gemstone is amethyst.

My name is Sari. It’s a Finnish version of Sarah from the Bible. Sarah was the wife of Abraham. In Hebrew Sarah (Sarai) means empress. And in India, sari (or saree or shari) is the name of the traditional cloth indian women wear. I was named after the biblical figure, not the cloth.
I was supposed to be named Helmi (Pearl), but my father detested the idea. Therefore he chose my name and in my opinion, it was even worse than Helmi. But as the years passed and I reached adulthood, I got used to my name. I even like it at the moment.
Sari is not a very common name among my generation, but I know a few Saris who are two or three decades older than me. Sari was one the most popular names in the 1960s.
We don’t actually have any naming traditions in Finland. Most of the people here have two or three first names though.

In Persian it means CHILD OF LIGHT, in Greek it means SPEAKER. In Lithuanian it is a very similar word to "morning" = rytas.
