Both of these posters were supposed to convince people to join the army and fight in the war and it was relying on people's sense of nationalism. The hope was that people would see these posters, and feel as though it was their duty as a citizen to protect their country, their government, the people of their nation, and do as these popular political figures wanted thus resulting in them joining the war. In seeing this poster, it not only sent a message to other women that they could also be helping, but for men, it may have led them to want to participate as well. The const of enrolling in programs in places such as Barnard College meant that those attending were usually upper class women, and working class women could temporarily join during the harvest. Many of the female organizers working there were also suffragettes, who were trying to draw attention towards their  movement by displaying their patriotism to their country. Although at first the public did not like the idea of employing women, the WLAA (Women's Land Army of America) proved successful. Posters like these promoted women having a role in the the war and fighting for their country.
