He also continued to fight, against all odds, throughout a grueling war caused and for other people, for years and years, and then, as we know from the story of the Odyssey, had to fight against the wills of many gods (hinting at hubris, an Aristotelian trait) to get back home to his wife, who was being surrounded by suitors (peripetia, a reversal of fortune because of his actions).
