Achilles is considered a hero because according to Aristotle a hero is someone who recognizes their own flaws and who makes mistakes first, he also thought that a hero had to have something tragic occur first. Achilles fits this role because his cousin dies in battle while impersonating him because Achilles refuses to go to war. He is also a hero because when Odysseus tries to talk to his cousin about going to war, Achilles doesn't want his cousin to be involved and tries to protect him. Achilles also makes sure that Calches is safe.

Trojans: Odysseus is a hero because he wanted to defend Greece's honor, not because directly personal insult but to preserve the dignity of others (went to war for the Spartans, who they would fight against), as the movie shows. He also continued to fight, against all odds, throughout a grueling war caused and for other people, for years and years, and then, as we know from the story of the Odyssey, had to fight against the wills of many gods (hinting at hubris, an Aristotelian trait) to get back home to his wife, who was being surrounded by suitors (peripetia, a reversal of fortune because of his actions). This hard ending also shows that he has a fate that is greater than deserved.
