THE AUTHOR: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, one of the most eminent authors of Catholic religious music.

THE PIECE: Sicut Cervus was composed in the XVI century. It is a sacred polyphony a capella and is built on a cantus firmus of Gregorian origin, giving priority to the voice of the soloist.
