Sex Slaves, or also known as "Comfort Women"

The term "Comfort Women" was used by the Japanese Imperial Army during the Second World War. During Japan's move towards the neighboring countries that included Korea, Taiwan, China, and the Philippines, they made sure that everything and everyone can be used to boost their military power. History suggests that women and children were not as useful as men do, but Japan had something in mind. Comfort women were ranged between the ages 18 to 25, the youngest known comfort women that is now an activist, Lee Yong-soo was forced to be a sex slave at age 16. She protested against the US and Japan about how comfort women were not viewed as a huge issue, some survivors of WW2 is still scarred from the horrific events that took place and the abuse, torture, rape and beatings that they had to endure.
The picture below is showing women being shipped off of the harbors of South Korea.

Sex slaves during the second world war were mostly women, thus the term comfort women was used. When we talk about WW2 we think of guns, machines, D-Day, Hitler, and the Nazis, but rarely do we talk about the slaves who were involved in the conflict. A 92-year old Korean comfort women survivor Kim-Bok Dong did an interview last year about her experience as a sex slave for the Japanese Imperial Army. She retells her story about being forced to work in a factory to make clothes for the army, and while she was working there, that's when Japanese soldiers took advantage of her and raped her. She would continue living in this kind of situation until the end of the war. Her experience with what took place against her has left a huge hole in her soul and it hasn't changed since.

How did the Japanese Imperial Army do these such war crimes procedures without alerting the public/world?

Japan teamed up with the Axis powers during the second world war, but both Germany and Italy did not coordinate each others activities, meaning that each countries worked separately. With Germany busy expanding through Europe with Italy, Japan is busy ruling the Pacific and expanding its influence in neighboring countries, mainly Korea and the Philippines. And with every country busy with their war efforts and fixing problems within their country, Japan was able to get away from it. After the war, the Allied forces won the war and with the defeat of Germany and Japan, that signaled the end of the war, which means slaves and workers are free or are sent back home. Japan used this as an advantage to give their soldiers freedom to have comfort while risking their lives fighting for their country and honor. But they never thought of the lives of these women that they took advantage of, raped, harassed, exploited, killed and robbed. A quote on this short clip made me cry.
"They might've killed my body, but not my spirit".

Today's world is surrounded by the internet, and the media is playing a big part of this issue. After WW2 the world is celebrating the victory of the Allies against the Axis, in which it overshadowed the fact that those who got affected by the Japanese Imperial Army never received a proper 'sorry' from Japan's government. People around the world had easily forgotten the negative effects that caused WW2 to some countries because of the media, they keep showing positive results to the people and twists the story for fame and fortune. The world is blinded by this globalization and influence of the western world, the media shows a way to forget about the past and make new things to entertain the audience, this is somewhat beneficial towards us, but they have kept the truth away from the world to know about and it made it for some people hard to forget as they are still seeking for a proper end into this issue.

South Korea's population is probably the most affected by Japan's actions towards women during WW2. In 2015, South Korea has showed honor and respect to those women who were affected by the actions made by the Japanese Imperial Army by scattering statues of the victims around city parks, benches, trains, buses and in public places. The Philippines has a small group of WW2 survivors who were comfort women and has publicly asked an apology from the Japanese government, but reports have stated that Japan has refused to give an apology to what has happened in the past. To this day, the controversy of Japan refusing to give an apology to those victims are still being noticed.
A song best describes this situation is found here...

Japan has denied the accusations for over 70 years since WW2 ended, but Japan has proposed an apology to Korean victims since 2012. There are no sources that I could find whether Korea has accepted it or not. But tensions between Tokyo and Seoul escalates due to this issue as of today.

History repeats itself, slavery has been on our footprints since, and this is due to globalization taking its place in society. Most people view Japan as the victim, some might view them as the villain, but in reality ALL of us are the victims, we as civilized humans keep pointing fingers to each other when we exploit and take advantage of what we truly are. The world has lost its common sense and leaning on violence once again. I hope the world can open their eyes and see the reality.
Imagine a world where racism, world hunger, global warming, wars, poverty, violence, hatred and other bad things that's in this world we live in never existed. "What a wonderful Dream of a world"
