What I took from the reading was that musical inventory is much like the process of becoming a fan of one's music. You listen to one song, whether it's by recommendation or pure “fate of online radio shuffle”, then you like the song and you do research to find other songs like it and next thing you know you have every song of every album from that artist in your apple music library. This concept of musical inventory is a great concept because now it brings about this idea of “fan loyalty” which means that the fan will support the artist regardless of what they put out. This idea also helps the listener gain a better relationship with the artist because the more songs you listen to, the more you get an idea of who they are and what they are about.
