Overview: Made in Durham is a community partnership of engaged educators, business, government, nonprofits, youth and young adults aligning their resources and initiatives to create an education-to-career system that better equips Durham’s youth for career and life success and builds a stronger local workforce.

  1. Durham Futures: This program has partnered with several organizations including The Durham Literacy Center and Achievement Academy to provide career consulting for students looking to transition from GED programs to secondary credentialing to meaningful employment.

Overview: The UMD provides a variety of services for homeless and low income Durham residents
Programs
  1. Shelter Journey/Journey Programs: UMD provides a variety of services through case management that provide health care, employment services, and housing transitions for homeless Durham residents
  2. Community Café: Serves three meals a day as well as providing bag lunches (hours online)
  3. Food Pantry and Clothing Closet: Provides food and clothing to individuals with children, a disability, or over 62 years’ old
  4. Hope-Believe Recovery: Alcoholics Anonymous program that also provides free (mandatory) housing for individuals who apply and are accepted into the program 
  5. Bread for the Journey: support for individuals struggling with depression and looking to reconnect with their faith and community
Participants
  1. Individuals who are homeless or at risk for homelessness are primarily the clients of the UMD; however, all are welcome
