She had a bad experience when she was putting her effort into having a relationship with someone who clearly didn't put as much of it in.
I've had friendships like that, and I can say that it definitely leaves some issues with trusting easily afterward, like how she was with Hercules. She was almost looking for a fault or a slipup as her signal to back off.
Also, her jokes. I find that I have a pretty similar sense of humor to her, plus the sarcasm, I'm loving the whole thing. 
She gives off a very "I don't need your help or want it" vibe, which I can relate to because I always want to be able to do things by myself. Having to ask for help annoys me.

Elle Woods also stuck to her story and found enough evidence to prove that she was right! Not only is his character some of the best queer representation I've seen, but he also has anxiety. As a queer person with anxiety, seeing him treated as just any other character, seeing that his anxiety is acknowledged and not made to be the butt of the jokes, and that's he's given depth and a storyline beyond his sexuality, but is still out and it's blatantly stated that he's gay; these things make me feel very represented and seen. He's also sarcastic, and emotional, which are traits I see in myself, along with his difficulty handling change. Queer representation is incredibly important in media, more specifically, good queer representation. His ambitious attitude and his determination to live a peaceful life is something I want to mimic in my own life. Even today, I do my hair as to look like him.
