Voki is an audio collaboration tool that allows students to create fun cartoon avatars. They can then record themselves speaking and it will appear as if their avatar is the one talking. Students can then share these with the teacher or other students (Oddcast Inc., 2022).

Voki is a good tool for students who are too shy to speak in class, for students with speech impediments or other speech problems, for those who have social anxiety, and for those who are learning English as a second language.

For the instructional activity, we will be creating an avatar for us to use with the Voki tool. First, click the top icon in the left hand column; it should be a man's head. Here you will choose your avatar type. That could be a human, animal, historical figure, mythological creature, etc. After you choose your avatar, click the second icon down and choose the clothes and accessories for your avatar. Next, click the third icon in the left-hand column and choose a background for your avatar. Then, click the icon below that and change the color of your avatar if you so wish. You can change the eye color, skin color, or more. Finally, click the bottom icon and record your own voice for your character. It also gives you the option to choose a preset voice. Then just hit save and your avatar is finished!
