He then quickly rose the ranks to become a Lieutenant a year after he enlisted, in 1782, and eventually received the rank of General one year prior to his resignation in 1798. He resumed his military career in 1812 to participate in The War of 1812, where he was now a Major General. He was also granted the position of commander of the new recruits and given the position stripped by president James Madison.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>WHH ran as the <strong>Northern Whig candidate</strong> in the 1840 presidential election after narrowly losing the 1836 election to Van Buren, his opposing candidate in the 1840 election. He based his campaign on his military experience and the <strong>weak U.S. economy that is an effect of "The Panic of 1837"</strong>. Him and his running mate John Tyler ran with the famous slogan <strong>"Tippecanoe and Tyler, too"</strong> referencing Harrison's heroism at the battle of Tippecanoe. </div>]]></description>
