· In 2013, there were 162 million malnourished children under 5 in the world.

· Low maternal education also affects poor nutrition in children.

· Parental leave can also affect the care and nutrition a child receives.  Did you know that the United States is the only developed country that does not guarantee paid maternity leave, and does not guarantee ANY kind of paternity leave?

· Many countries have adopted a multi-sector or umbrella policy.

· Arab states are the furthest behind in this area.

· Various elements contribute to the success of these programs – coordination, cooperation and continuity. 

· Early intervention has a positive effect on the children, and can influence them educationally for years to come.

· Enrollment has risen by 64% over the past decade, but there is still inequality between gender and income.

· Where you live can also influence your ability to receive services – those in poorer rural areas are less likely to enroll in programs.

· Children need more pre-primary education.

· Governments should provide free services to all poor and marginalized groups.

· Improve quality of programs and make them more accessible.
