Could a side benefit of giving more homework actually be that students are able to practice their time management skills, persistence, and overcoming barriers? Self efficacy is how the students feel they are able to reach success and overcome barriers; homework can (though not always) provide limited barriers that students are expected to overcome to be successful in class.
